The Country in Chaos—with Blind, Destructive Self-Interests
The past several weeks must be mind-boggling to the country. The automobile industry bailout efforts, the state of Illinois fiasco and the deep and troubling worker layoffs and unemployment in most industries across the nation.
Equally disturbing were the reports on asthma drugs and pressure the pharmaceutical industry puts on university and research physicians, not to speak of their own medical representatives, and the federal government doctors as well.
When it comes to money in our capitalistic system, the heavy hand of pressure and intimidation show their ugly head. It was disturbing to read of how the reputations and credibility of respected physicians and scholars can be impugned by their fellow colleagues, due to the pressures and the big money involved.
These are classic examples of how our economic system works, despite the factual proof, the test results, the research, etc. of how harmful some medications can be to both young and old. I was pleased to see yesterday that the FDA panel did vote down the continued use of two of the four medications used for asthmatics.
Turning again to the Democratic Party in the state of Illinois, is equally disturbing and sickening. It is pathetic that our political system operates in such a corrupted, unethical manner. The Democrats are shameless. They play the same game as the Republicans. Here again, big money is the key. Opportunities, self-interest, and quid pro quo is the arrangement. And those “progressives” continue to bite their tongues.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald was the left’s hero when he took on Scooter Liddy and Bush’s Republican Party; now they will turn on him when they discover that he will be just as demanding for the truth and accountability from their fellow Democrats.
How much is the Obama machine involved? Axelrod, Obama’s chief campaign manager, was Governor Blagojevich of Illinois’s campaign manager just two years ago; and Rahm Immanuel, Obama’s new Chief of Staff, is part of the Mayor Daly machine with interactions between Immanuel and the governor over the senatorial seat that Barack Obama leaves open. The wheeling and dealing continues, no matter what major party is in power.
The economic condition we are now in is the fault of both major political parties. The bailout is supported by both political entities, by giving money back to the same people who caused this turmoil in the first place. And Wall Street continues to get worse, with Ponzi schemes, fraud and blind greed.
Bailout, or not, for the automotive industry, will not work, because the two parties are still relying on the same elite to manage the scam, at the expense of the workers. The bailouts will only work if we turn over full control and ownership to the workers. Nothing less.
For God’s sake, has our county no shame? Can it not learn from our mistakes, not to repeat the same debacles again? This has reached the proportion of of two sickening, pathetic, corrupted political and greedy economic systems.
