Stewart Alexander has issued the following statement (below) declaring clearly that he is not a candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party’s presidential nomination and that he will support me as I seek that nomination. I welcome Stewart’s statement and look forward to working with him as part of the Socialist Party’s presidential ticket.
Stewart Alexander made this an issue by remaining on the Peace and Freedom Party’s presidential primary ballot after the Socialist Party’s convention in October, 2007, where I was chosen as the Party’s presidential candidate and Stewart was nominated as the vice-presidential candidate. Stewart Alexander’s action could only confuse Peace and Freedom voters as to the decision of the Socialist Party. Mr. Stewart’s March 8 statement finally resolves this confusion.
Following is Stewart Alexander’s
Statement from Stewart Alexander
Socialist Party nominee for Vice President, and
candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party
Vice-Presidential nomination:
Some while ago, some malicious tricksters who
hate the Peace and Freedom Party and the Socialist
Party USA circulated an entirely false report
alleging that I intended to become the Peace and
Freedom Party nominee for President, displacing my
running mate Brian Moore, the Socialist Party
nominee for President. This false report was
received by a number of members of the Peace and
Freedom Party California State Central Committee,
who recognized the source and the falsity of the
report. It apparently was also received by some SP
members in the East, some of whom did not recognize
it as a dirty trick with no foundation in fact.
In fact, since late October 2007, when I was
nominated for Vice President by the Socialist Party
nomination of the Peace and Freedom Party, the
Liberty Union Party of Vermont, and any other party
or ballot line that might present the
Moore-Alexander ticket to the voters. I am not a
candidate for President. I have written and stated
so repeatedly in very clear terms.
I urge anyone who comes across variations of
this malicious false report, from any source, to
recognize that it is a political "dirty trick"
invented by enemies of the socialist movement, and
to reject it and deny it. Those who are tricked
into believing it, despite my specific denial and
the clear understanding of the Peace and Freedom
Party leadership that the report has no validity
whatever, are just making fools of themselves.
Please point this out to anyone who raises this with
you.
I do not intend to waste any more time on this
absurd slander, and anyone who asks will be provided
with a copy of this statement. I cannot make my
position any clearer.
Stewart A. Alexander
